“We’re processing between 10,000-15,000 financial transactions a day, so it has to be secure. From the way people register to use, to the payment gateway, it has to be verified payments. All Washstation’s transactions are 3-D Secure v2, which was something we worked hard to comply with. 3DS v2 is a relatively new system, and making sure we were compliant was very important.
“Reporting is vitally important to us; we’re a data-rich business. The insights we gain from that data help us understand the usage profile of a laundry room, when we might want to incentivise by running promotions across our platform or when to change prices. Most importantly, it gives us a level of transparency with our clients. It helps everybody plan their resources so much better.
“Sixty-five percent of Washstation’s users are Apple users. So for us, being able to use Apple Pay was really important to us. When Apple Pay became available [with Elavon], we decided to imprint the Apple certificate into our gateway. Obviously, it was very bespoke, something that was tailored to our needs and our student needs. Having Apple was a must.”
